Belgian street sweetness, Bay Area setting

Authentic gaufres de Liège, warm off the iron.

Rich, buttery, and caramelized with pearl sugar, made to be eaten exactly as they are. Starting at Bay Area farmers markets, with pop-ups and a permanent home in sight.

Story

Years of practice, one clear excuse to start.

I have been making Liège waffles for years, and after repeatedly coming up short looking for a really satisfying version in the Bay Area, I decided to build the thing I wanted to find. These waffles come from the city of Liège in eastern Belgium, where they became known for their richer dough, irregular shape, and caramelized pearl sugar. Cité Ardente Waffles is my way of sharing that small ritual of eating them warm and passing them around to friends and family.

Origin note

Liège is often called La Cité Ardente, or The Fiery City, which gave this project its name.

Location

Starting at Bay Area farmers markets.

Market appearances, pop-ups, and future stops will be posted here as plans take shape. For now, consider this the placeholder where current dates, neighborhoods, and opening hours will eventually live.
